If you host multiple websites within the exact same account and one of them is hacked, it's likely that all of them will be hacked after that. There are several reasons why this could happen, the two most common are: using really weak passwords or using outdated scripts with well-known vulnerabilities. This way, just a single compromised website can make a lot of damage to all of your sites, since getting access to a single script generally allows hackers to access the entire Internet hosting account. This is the reason why we have created an innovative security option called JailHost. Once turned on, this option will literally lock a site in its folder, so if an attacker takes over it, the other Internet sites in the account will be hidden. Thus they will be resistant to further intrusion. The JailHost option doesn't imply that you should not keep your Internet sites up-to-date, but it will significantly limit the damage.
JailHost in Shared Hosting
If you host your sites in a shared hosting account from our firm, you can protect them by using the JailHost feature with just a few clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. This feature is accessible with all plans and can be enabled for every folder since the domains and subdomains in Hepsia have different folders, so that files for various Internet sites do not get mixed up like it usually happens with other Control Panels. We have not activated JailHost by default because you might use scripts which require access to folders outside the main website folder and this option may interfere with their proper functioning, but protecting all the other folders is very simple. In case a secured Internet site gets hacked for whatever reason, we can recover it quickly since we'll have multiple daily backup copies of your entire account and you will even be able to view the available backups from Hepsia.
JailHost in Semi-dedicated Servers
JailHost comes with all of our semi-dedicated server solutions and you will be able to activate it with a couple of clicks. It is not enabled by default as we don't want to prevent some scripts that may need to gain access to multiple folders in the account from working properly. You could enable JailHost for all other sites that you have from the Hepsia Control Panel and this can be done very easily even if you have no previous experience. What enables us to offer JailHost is the way in which Hepsia takes care of multiple domains - they all have individual folders that could be "locked". In comparison, other well known Control Panels feature add-on domains and the content of the latter is stored in the main domain folder, so in case a single site is hacked, the entire account is hacked, that isn't the case with Hepsia. In the event that an Internet site gets damaged regardless of your efforts, we shall be able to restore it the way it was almost immediately because we'll keep a couple of daily backups of the entire account.
