If you wish to transfer a domain from one company to another, you’ll have to go through a few security procedures. One of them is getting a special EPP code from the present domain registrar – on the condition that you are the registrant, since the code is emailed to the domain owner’s mailbox and no one else can see it. You have to give this code to the new domain registrar, otherwise they won’t be able to start the domain transfer. The EPP authorization codes are case-sensitive and may contain digits or special symbols such as dots or commas, which can be easily misentered, so make sure you copy & paste the correct code. As an additional protection measure, the transfer code for a domain may be reset regularly. Some companies call this code a domain password, an Auth key or a domain secret as well.
